Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin extended warm greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, highlighting India’s growing global stature and achievements across multiple sectors.
In his message, President Putin praised India’s progress in social, economic, scientific and technological fields, noting that the country rightfully holds its place among the world’s leading powers and commands great respect in the international community.
Referring to his visit to India in December last year, the Russian leader said the discussions held during that trip reaffirmed the steady development of the special and privileged strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi. He expressed confidence that both nations would continue to deepen cooperation across all sectors while strengthening coordination on regional and global issues.
Putin added that such collaboration aligns with the interests of both Russian and Indian citizens and contributes to the vision of a just multipolar world order. He concluded his message by wishing the Indian leadership good health and success, and conveyed his best wishes for happiness and well-being to the people of India.
Earlier, on December 5, 2025, Prime Minister Modi met President Putin at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, where the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and discussed expanding cooperation in key areas including the economy, defence and trade.
In a joint press statement following their talks, Prime Minister Modi remarked that India-Russia relations have stood the test of time and thanked President Putin for his continued friendship and commitment to strengthening the partnership. He noted that President Putin had laid the foundation of the strategic partnership 25 years ago, and that in 2010 the relationship was elevated to a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
Modi also acknowledged Putin’s long-standing role in nurturing bilateral ties, stating that over the past two and a half decades, the Russian leader’s vision and leadership have played a significant role in advancing cooperation between the two countries.
