Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed on Saturday that it had attacked airports, oil facilities and an airbase across Saudi Arabia, raising fresh security concerns in the region. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the latest claims.

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said the targets included King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, a Saudi Aramco facility in Yanbu, the Rabigh oil refinery and crude oil pumping stations along the East-West pipeline.

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles fired towards Taif and Yanbu. Authorities briefly issued public safety warnings before declaring the threat had passed.

The latest claims follow reported attacks earlier this month, including a strike on Riyadh’s international airport on October 10 that Saudi authorities said killed at least 12 people and injured 309.

The renewed violence threatens the relative calm established by a United Nations-brokered truce in 2022, amid growing regional tensions.
