Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions prevailing across Odisha are likely to continue till January 17, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.
According to the IMD, the persistent winter chill will gradually ease from January 18 onwards due to the influence of an incoming western disturbance, which is expected to cause a rise in temperatures across the state.
The weather agency has issued a cold wave alert for several districts till January 16, advising residents to take necessary precautions against the prevailing low temperatures.
As per the district-wise forecast, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Jharsuguda and Angul districts till the morning of January 14. Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Jharsuguda and Khordha districts are likely to experience cold wave conditions on January 14 and 15. Similar conditions are expected to continue in these districts on January 15 and 16 as well.
The IMD clarified that no weather warning has been issued from January 17 onwards, indicating a probable improvement in weather conditions and gradual relief from the cold wave across Odisha.
