Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has written to Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik regarding the long-standing Kotia boundary dispute, reaffirming that the region has been an integral part of Odisha since 1936.

In his reply to Patnaik’s October 19 letter, Majhi said the state government remains committed to protecting Odisha’s territorial integrity and legitimate interests.

The Chief Minister observed that Patnaik’s letter appeared to approach the sensitive issue from a political perspective rather than offering constructive and legally sustainable solutions.

Majhi said the government has been pursuing the matter through lawful and constitutional means while prioritising development in Kotia and adjoining areas. A committee headed by the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister has been formed to oversee integrated development in Kotia Gram Panchayat.

He added that ministers and senior officials have been visiting the region to assess local needs, improve public services and coordinate development initiatives.

Emphasising the sensitivity of the inter-state dispute, Majhi urged all concerned to act responsibly and respect the judicial process.

The Chief Minister also invited constructive suggestions from Patnaik to help resolve the long-pending issue, while ensuring the socio-economic development of residents in Kotia and neighbouring areas.
