The Supreme Court on Monday said the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya should not be turned into a political issue. A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, heard petitions seeking an independent probe into the allegations.
The court asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to examine the possibility of reconstituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) while reviewing the state’s report on the case.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice cautioned the petitioners against politicising the matter. He said the courts are meant to ensure justice, not serve political interests. The bench observed that the allegations indicate a possible criminal offence and should be investigated in a fair, impartial, and lawful manner. The court stressed that the investigation must continue until it reaches a logical conclusion based on the evidence.
