New Delhi: Odisha FC is undergoing a significant transition at the top, with Chief Executive Officer Raj Athwal stepping down from his role just days after the club mutually parted ways with head coach Sergio Lobera.
The club confirmed Athwal’s departure in an official statement, stating that the decision was communicated by the CEO and subsequently accepted by the management. Odisha FC thanked Athwal for his leadership and contributions during his tenure.
“Under his stewardship, Odisha FC secured its first-ever silverware with the Super Cup triumph, followed by the Indian Women’s League 2023–24 title, and achieved qualification for the AFC competition knockout stages by both the men’s and women’s teams,” the statement said.
The club also announced interim administrative arrangements during the transition period. General Manager Ravi Khedar will serve as the primary point of contact for all club communications and operational matters until further notice.
Reacting to the development, club owner Rohan Sharma expressed his appreciation for Athwal’s role over the past five years. He said he was saddened by the departure and described Athwal as a long-time well-wisher of the club, wishing him and his family the best for the future.
Athwal’s exit comes shortly after Odisha FC announced the mutual departure of head coach Sergio Lobera on December 26. In a statement at the time, the club thanked Lobera for his professionalism and contributions, adding that it is awaiting clarity on the league before announcing a new head coach.
The developments mark a period of change for the Bhubaneswar-based club as it prepares for the next phase of the season.
