Bhubaneswar, June 29: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a rise in rainfall activity across Odisha from July 1. The weather department has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for several districts due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain.
Districts such as Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Balangir, and Bargarh are expected to receive intense rainfall on different days between July 1 and July 5. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also likely in many parts of the state.
Before widespread rain arrives, hot and humid weather is expected to continue in several coastal and interior districts on June 29 and June 30. The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms with wind speeds of up to 50 kmph during this period.
Residents in the affected districts have been advised to remain alert and follow weather updates. People should avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms and take necessary precautions to stay safe. The weather department will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as needed.
