Mr. Asutosh Rath, Executive Director (Human Resources) at National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), is a distinguished corporate professional whose career reflects more than 34 years of experience, progressive leadership, and a strong commitment to human capital development and organisational excellence.

An Electrical Engineer, Mr. Rath completed his B.Tech from VSSUT, Burla, and his MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. During his extensive career with NALCO, he has worked across diverse areas including manufacturing, support services, projects, Total Quality Management (TQM), HR interventions, recruitment, HR policies, CSR, corporate communication, corporate affairs, general administration, and training.

Currently serving as the Head of HR of the Navaratna CPSE NALCO, Mr. Rath handles multiple strategic functions as Executive Director. His responsibilities encompass all verticals of Human Resource Management, General Administration, Corporate Communication and Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Medical Services and CSR.

Known for his natural aptitude for dealing with people, Mr. Rath combines vision with realism and seeks to balance the interests of different stakeholders. His leadership has strengthened NALCO’s strategic HR initiatives, particularly in employee welfare, engagement, motivational schemes and internal communication. The organisation has also earned recognition for its empathetic CSR initiatives in areas such as women empowerment, education of girl children and tribal children, healthcare in remote areas, skill development and environmental sustainability.

His professional journey reflects the evolving role of HR as a strategic business enabler—one that strengthens organisational capability, develops talent, improves employee engagement and builds a future-ready workforce. His experience has given him a deep understanding of managing human capital within a large and diverse industrial organisation.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Rath is an excellent orator and takes keen interest in conducting seminars on communication skills, problem-solving techniques and strategic human resource management. He has previously been honoured with state-level and Chancellor’s Gold Medals for debating.

His interests also include organising mega youth festivals and cultural programmes. An active Rotarian, Mr. Rath has held several important positions in Rotary and successfully led a Group Study Exchange Team from India to Canada. He is widely travelled in India and abroad.
