Sri Pradeep Mirase, IFS, represents a generation of forest officers committed to protecting Odisha’s forests and wildlife. A 2015-batch Indian Forest Service officer with an engineering background, Mirase has built his career through challenging field assignments across the state.
His experience as a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Sundargarh and Balangir gave him valuable exposure to forest protection, biodiversity conservation, wildlife management, and community-related challenges. Working in diverse regions has strengthened his administrative skills and ability to balance conservation priorities with local needs.
Mirase has also shown an interest in learning from conservation practices beyond Odisha. During a study tour to Japan in 2024, he explored forest and urban ecosystems, gaining broader perspectives on biodiversity and sustainable conservation.
In April 2026, he was appointed Deputy Director of Nandankanan Zoological Park. His responsibilities now include zoological park administration, animal welfare, conservation education, and public awareness.
His journey reflects dedication, field experience and a strong commitment to safeguarding Odisha’s forests, wildlife and environment.
