Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested Sanoj Kumar Mishra, former secretary of Tusura Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) Ltd in Balangir district, over alleged financial irregularities in paddy procurement during the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2014-15.
Mishra was arrested following an investigation into the alleged diversion of paddy procured from farmers using government funds. He was later forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir.
According to Vigilance, Mishra was responsible for procuring paddy from farmers and ensuring its timely delivery to designated rice mills for custom milling.
The investigation allegedly found that a substantial quantity of procured paddy was neither delivered to the tagged rice mills nor properly recorded in the society’s stock records. The alleged non-delivery and fraudulent accounting caused a financial loss of Rs 42,31,608 to the society, the agency said.
Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station registered Case No. 12 on August 16, 2026, under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 409 of the IPC.
Further investigation into the case is underway, the Vigilance said.
