Jajpur: In view of the prevailing flood situation, waterlogging in several parts of the district and the possibility of heavy rainfall, the District Education Office, Jajpur, has ordered the suspension of classes in all schools across the district on Tuesday, August 18.
As per an office order issued by the District Education Officer on Monday, classes in all government, government-aided and private schools will remain suspended for the day. The order covers elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools, along with Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Odisha Model Adarsha Vidyalayas (OMAVs).
The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing flood situation and the possibility of further heavy rainfall in the district.
However, school premises will remain open for rescue and rehabilitation operations, if required. Schools may also be used as centres for relief, rescue and emergency response measures during any flood-related emergency.
