Mumbai: Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna are set to share screen space once again after nearly three decades in the upcoming Netflix title Ikka. The project also marks Sunny Deol’s debut on the streaming platform.
The title was officially unveiled on Tuesday at a special event hosted by Netflix. However, both lead actors were absent from the launch.
Ikka is described as a gripping legal thriller that follows the story of a celebrated and incorruptible lawyer who is coerced into defending a murder accused — a man whose career he had once notoriously destroyed. As the case unfolds, the lawyer is forced to blur ethical lines and use every tactic at his disposal, knowing that failure could cost him everything he holds dear.
The series also features Tillotama Shome and Dia Mirza in key roles.
Sharing their thoughts on the project, the team behind Ikka said the story presents an intense face-off between two long-standing rivals, layered with emotional conflict and personal history.
“This deeply personal script, nurtured over the years, unfolds as a riveting confrontation between a top lawyer and a man connected to painful memories from his past,” the team said in a statement. “Viewers can expect a relentless thriller filled with emotional depth, moral dilemmas and unexpected twists.”
They also expressed gratitude to Netflix for backing the project and bringing together a strong ensemble cast and crew.
Ikka is expected to premiere on Netflix soon, though an official release date is yet to be announced.
