Mumbai: The makers of the much-anticipated war sequel Border 2 released the song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” on Friday, with singer Sonu Nigam describing his association with the patriotic track as a deeply emotional homecoming.
Sharing the song on his Instagram handle, Nigam said the track was more than just a melody for him. “Some songs aren’t just melodies; they are emotions that belong to the soul of our nation. Being a part of this song for Border 2 felt like a beautiful homecoming,” he wrote, dedicating the song to India’s soldiers and their families waiting for their return.
The song was unveiled at a grand launch event and features a stellar lineup of singers, including Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh. Originally composed by Anu Malik, the iconic number has been reimagined by Mithoon, with fresh lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir Shukla.
The original song, “Sandese Aate Hai,” featured in the 1999 blockbuster Border, was sung by Sonu Nigam and Roopkumar Rathod, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The song was picturised on Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, and Jackie Shroff, and went on to become one of Indian cinema’s most memorable patriotic anthems.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 boasts an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh, among others.
Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films, and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23.
