Shiv Sena leader and MP Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde has condemned the attack on doctors and nurses at KDMC’s Shastri Nagar Hospital in Dombivli. He said the party will not protect anyone found guilty.
The incident happened after a dispute over the treatment of a pregnant woman. Hospital staff alleged that corporator Ramesh Mhatre and his supporters assaulted doctors, nurses, and other employees.
Police have arrested three people linked to the case. Ramesh Mhatre and another accused are still absconding. Police teams are searching for them.
Dr. Shinde, who is also a doctor, said healthcare workers serve society with dedication. He went on to say that those who were at fault will face severe consequences.
Resident doctors across Maharashtra will wear black ribbons on July 9 to protest the attack. The Maharashtra State Nurses Association will begin a three-day protest from July 10. Both groups have demanded quick arrests and strong legal action.
State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar also said violence is unacceptable. He urged people to use legal channels to resolve disputes instead of taking the law into their own hands.
