The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has started an internal review after reports that Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel used pellet rounds during the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” march in Delhi.
According to sources, some pellet rounds struck the ground and injured protesters in the Connaught Place area. The CRPF is preparing a detailed report as part of its standard post-operation review. The final investigation report is yet to be released.
The Delhi Police and the government have denied that pellet guns were used during the protest. However, several protesters have claimed they suffered pellet injuries. At least four such cases have been reported.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi recently appeared with an injured protester, Sahil Lohchab. He alleged that pellet firing took place and criticised the government’s response. The injured protester also shared his account, saying he was hit while trying to run after seeing a police personnel aiming a weapon.
CRPF sources also said that more than 47 RAF personnel were injured during the clashes, with some suffering serious injuries.
9 ku kii d 7Pellet guns are considered a last-resort crowd-control measure. They are generally used only after other methods, such as warnings, tear gas, and water cannons, fail to control a violent situation. The official CRPF review is expected to provide more clarity on the incident.
