President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Odisha on Friday for a major development programme. The visit focused on improving infrastructure, education, energy, and employment opportunities across the state.
The two leaders first visited Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj district. They offered prayers at the Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera sacred groves. They also interacted with students and staff at local educational and skill development centres.
Later, they attended a public event in Rairangpur to mark two years of the Odisha government. During the programme, projects worth more than ₹47,600 crore were inaugurated and launched.
Key projects include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, the expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station, and the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited project in Jharsuguda. Several road, irrigation, waste management, education, and connectivity projects were also announced.
The government said these projects will improve infrastructure, boost energy security, create jobs, and support Odisha’s long-term economic growth.
