A fresh controversy has emerged after Brazilian journalist and geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar claimed that Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, had planned to assassinate Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir during diplomatic talks in Geneva. According to Escobar, Pakistani intelligence allegedly intercepted information about the plot and responded with a strong warning to Israel.
The journalist further alleged that Pakistan conveyed a message through diplomatic channels, warning that any attack on its delegation would have severe consequences. However, these claims have not been independently verified by any government or international agency.
Pakistani journalists and officials have strongly rejected the allegations, describing them as baseless and unsupported by facts. Reports quoting security sources stated that there were no security alerts or concerns during the Swiss visit of the Pakistani delegation.
As of now, neither Israel nor Pakistan has officially confirmed the claims. The incident has nevertheless sparked debate online and added to the already tense geopolitical atmosphere in the region.
