The Odisha government has extended the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, until September 30, 2026. The decision will allow existing incentives for electric vehicles to continue for three more months.

The Commerce and Transport Department issued a notification announcing the extension. The move was made under the powers provided in Paragraph 11.5 of the policy.

The Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy was introduced to promote the use of electric vehicles across the state. It also aims to attract investment in EV manufacturing and the production of EV components.

Under the policy, the government provides several financial benefits. These include purchase subsidies for electric vehicles, incentives for EV manufacturing units, scrapping benefits for old vehicles, interest subvention on loans, and exemption from road tax and vehicle registration fees.

The extension will ensure that consumers, manufacturers, and investors continue to receive these benefits until the end of September. The move is expected to support the growth of electric mobility and encourage wider adoption of clean transportation in Odisha.
