The East Coast Railway (ECoR) organised a large-scale mock drill on earthquake and fire safety at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the Odisha Fire Services. The exercise was aimed at testing emergency response systems and improving preparedness for natural disasters and fire-related emergencies.
Officials, railway employees, firefighters, and disaster response teams took part in the simulation, which included a planned evacuation followed by a mock fire rescue operation. Emergency teams demonstrated rescue techniques, fire control measures, and safe evacuation procedures while highlighting the importance of quick action and effective coordination during crises.
Participants also received practical guidance on using fire safety equipment, following evacuation routes, reaching designated assembly points, and adopting basic disaster management practices.
According to East Coast Railway, the drill reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen safety standards, improve emergency response capabilities, and ensure better coordination with state agencies. Such exercises help create awareness among employees and residents while enhancing readiness to handle real-life emergency situations efficiently and safely.
