A major rescue operation is underway in Kolkata after the collapse of an under-construction warehouse in the Taratala area claimed three lives and left at least 18 people injured. The incident occurred near Brace Bridge when a section of the warehouse roof reportedly gave way during construction work, trapping several labourers under the debris.
Emergency teams, including the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire services, and police personnel, have been deployed to search for survivors. Authorities have rescued more than 20 workers so far, while fears remain that additional people could still be trapped beneath the rubble.
West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari visited the accident site and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He also assured that all available resources were being used to accelerate rescue operations.
Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse. Rescue efforts are expected to continue until all trapped workers are accounted for.
