Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the funeral ceremonies of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to sources, the funeral proceedings will begin on July 4 and conclude with his burial in Mashhad, his hometown, on July 9.

Khamenei, who led Iran for 36 years, was reportedly killed on February 28 during the opening phase of Israeli and US military strikes on Tehran. The funeral schedule includes ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, with millions of mourners expected to participate.

Iranian state media stated that special arrangements have been made due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding his death. Several international leaders, including Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, are also expected to attend the ceremonies.

Meanwhile, Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the late leader’s son, has reportedly been serving as Iran’s Supreme Leader since March. His health condition has become a subject of international speculation in recent months.

The funeral comes at a time when Iran and the United States are engaged in ongoing peace negotiations aimed at easing regional tensions and restoring stability in West Asia.
