Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that within the next 24 hours, a new low-pressure area will form over the north Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal regions of West Bengal and Bangladesh.

The weather system is associated with a cyclonic circulation that has moved from Myanmar and adjoining areas and is now positioned over the north Bay of Bengal and nearby coastal regions. Up to 5.8 kilometers above mean sea level, the circulation is present.

The expected formation of the low-pressure area could increase rainfall activity across Odisha in the coming days, with some areas likely to receive heavy rain.

The IMD has advised fishermen and residents of low-lying areas to remain alert. The regional meteorological centre is continuing to monitor the system and may issue further updates on rainfall, wind conditions and the sea.

Residents are advised to follow official weather alerts and take necessary precautions as the system develops.
