Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s flood situation remained under control on Saturday, although flood-related impacts were reported in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada districts, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

All major rivers, including the Mahanadi, Brahmani, Baitarani, Budhabalanga, Subarnarekha and Jalka, remained below warning and danger levels as of 11 AM.

The state recorded 6.8 mm of average rainfall in the 24 hours ending Saturday morning. From June 1 to August 22, Odisha received 1,028.4 mm of rainfall, 29 per cent above normal.

A total of 86 rescue teams have been deployed, comprising 32 ODRAF, eight NDRF and 46 Fire & Emergency Services teams. In the impacted districts, relief efforts are in progress.

The state government has released Rs 167.55 crore from the SDRF for rescue, relief camps and other flood-related measures. Authorities have directed district administrations to remain alert and monitor waterlogging, inundation, road damage and other possible impacts.

The SEOC and District Emergency Operation Centres are continuing round-the-clock monitoring of the situation.
