Actor Diljit Dosanjh has said he was “certain” that his film Satluj would be taken down soon after its release. The film was removed from ZEE5 in India shortly after it premiered on July 3.
Diljit shared these views during an Instagram live session. He said the team deliberately avoided promoting the film before its release. He added that a heavy promotion could have stopped the film from releasing at all.
He explained that the release was kept as a surprise. The goal was to ensure the film reached viewers, even if only for a short time.
Satluj, earlier titled Panjab ’95, is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The story highlights alleged disappearances and custodial deaths during Punjab’s militancy period.
Diljit said he expected the film to be removed as early as Monday after its release. He also said he felt satisfied that the story has now reached audiences and sparked discussion.
He acknowledged that producers have faced financial losses. However, he said that every setback is eventually balanced in life.
The film was directed by Honey Trehan and faced delays over certification issues before its OTT release.
