Bhubaneswar: Dense fog engulfed Bhubaneswar on Thursday, causing a sharp dip in temperatures and disrupting air travel. The city’s temperature dropped to 20°C, with readings at 11:30 am hovering around 22°C, marking a significant fall compared to previous days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar has been witnessing a steady decline in temperatures over the past several days. The city recorded 24.4°C on December 28, followed by 23.3°C on December 29, 21.4°C on December 30, and 21.6°C on December 31, indicating a clear cooling trend.

The dense fog also affected flight operations at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, where five flights were diverted due to poor visibility, leaving several passengers stranded and facing inconvenience.

IMD officials said such weather conditions are typical during this time of the year and advised people to remain cautious, especially during early morning hours when visibility is significantly reduced.
