The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday intensified its criticism of the government over the reported exposure of personal information belonging to candidates who appeared for JEE (Advanced) 2026, describing the incident as a serious failure in the management of the country’s education and digital systems.
According to reports, the issue stemmed from a cloud storage configuration problem linked to the examination results portal, raising concerns about the security of student data and the safeguards in place to protect sensitive information.
Speaking at a press conference, leaders associated with the movement argued that the incident reflected deeper shortcomings in the administration of educational institutions and digital infrastructure. They claimed that such lapses undermine public confidence in systems that millions of students and families depend upon every year.
The campaign, which initially gained momentum on social media before attracting wider public attention, has positioned the data exposure issue as a symbol of broader concerns surrounding accountability and governance in the education sector.
CJP leaders urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate action by removing Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from office. They alleged that the minister had failed to ensure adequate oversight and accountability within the education system and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the reported data exposure.
“The security of students’ personal information cannot be treated lightly. Those responsible for overseeing these systems must be held accountable when such failures occur,” party representatives said during the briefing.
The demand comes ahead of the CJP’s proposed protest scheduled for June 6. Addressing concerns about the planned demonstration, party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka rejected suggestions that the agitation could become disruptive or violent.
Ranka stressed that the movement is committed to peaceful and democratic methods of protest. He said the objective of the campaign is to highlight issues related to data security, transparency, and administrative responsibility rather than create unrest.
“Our focus is on ensuring that the concerns of students and citizens are heard. The protest is intended to remain peaceful and within the framework of democratic expression,” he said.
The reported exposure of JEE (Advanced) candidate data has reignited discussions about cybersecurity standards in public institutions. As educational bodies increasingly rely on digital platforms to manage examinations and student records, experts have repeatedly called for stronger security measures and regular audits to prevent vulnerabilities from being exploited.
The government has not yet issued a detailed response to the CJP’s demand for the Education Minister’s dismissal. However, the controversy has intensified scrutiny of how educational data is stored, managed, and protected in an era of expanding digital governance.
With the June 6 protest drawing closer, the issue is expected to remain at the centre of political and public debate, particularly among students and stakeholders concerned about data privacy and accountability in the education sector.
