Balasore: The Balasore Police on Wednesday issued a public advisory urging citizens to exercise responsibility while using social media platforms and to refrain from posting or promoting content that spreads hatred or harm against any individual or community.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the district police cautioned that the circulation of hateful, misleading, or harmful content online could invite serious legal consequences. The advisory stressed the need for social media users to avoid encouraging divisive narratives and instead promote respectful dialogue and the dissemination of verified information.

The police also appealed to the public to promptly report hate-filled or harmful posts to the respective social media platforms or concerned authorities. Citizens were advised to preserve screenshots or web links of such content as evidence to assist in any potential investigation.

Reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace and communal harmony, the Balasore Police highlighted the importance of responsible digital conduct and collective vigilance to prevent the misuse of online platforms.

The advisory comes at a time when concerns are growing over the increasing misuse of social media to spread misinformation and fuel communal discord.
