The Delhi government has introduced a new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy aimed at making clean transport more accessible while reducing pollution across the capital. As part of the plan, the city will significantly expand its public EV charging network over the coming years, making it easier for residents to switch to electric vehicles.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government has prepared the required infrastructure by working with power companies, housing societies, and industry experts. A faster approval process will help speed up the installation of new charging stations across Delhi.
The policy also offers attractive financial support for EV buyers. Electric two-wheeler owners can receive purchase incentives, while people replacing old vehicles with electric models will be eligible for additional benefits. Electric cars within the approved price range will continue to enjoy exemptions from road tax and registration charges.
Along with promoting EV adoption, the government plans to improve the city’s electricity network and develop systems for battery recycling and e-waste management. The policy also encourages the use of electric commercial vehicles and government fleets, supporting Delhi’s vision of cleaner air, lower emissions, and a more sustainable transport future.
