An IAS officer in Uttar Pradesh has been transferred after a heated confrontation with a local BJP leader during an official inspection. The incident happened at a cold storage facility in Jalaun district.
Former Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rinkoo Singh Rahee was shifted to the post of SDM (Judicial) days after the controversy. BJP Block Pramukh Ram Raja Niranjan accused the officer of pushing him and trying to slap him during the inspection.
Niranjan claimed the argument started when officials checked the fire safety system and asked for documents. He said the officer lost his temper before the documents could be produced. CCTV footage of the incident later surfaced online.
Rahee rejected the allegations. He said the video being shared was incomplete. According to him, he only moved the phone away because it was brought too close to his face. He also said he stepped back to maintain personal space.
The district administration has formed a two-member inquiry committee. Both sides have been asked to record their statements. Witnesses seen in the CCTV footage will also be questioned.
Rahee has remained in the spotlight in recent years due to administrative disputes and his earlier role as a whistleblower in an alleged social welfare scam.
