Political tensions in Maharashtra escalated on Thursday as Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and BJP Minister Girish Mahajan exchanged sharp remarks amid growing uncertainty within the Uddhav Thackeray-led party. The controversy comes after six Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MPs reportedly skipped a crucial party meeting, fueling speculation about an internal split.
Mahajan accused Raut of being a major reason behind the party’s declining unity, claiming that his outspoken style has driven several leaders away. He further alleged that more defections could follow, including corporators from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Responding to the criticism, Raut defended his position and dismissed the BJP’s claims, asserting that attempts are being made to weaken the Opposition party. As political developments continue to unfold, the crisis has once again highlighted the challenges facing Shiv Sena (UBT) ahead of key electoral battles.
