BJP MP Raghav Chadha met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The meeting has attracted attention as Punjab prepares for its next Assembly election.

The gathering was “a morning to cherish,” according to Chadha. He said the discussion was detailed and enriching. He also thanked the Prime Minister for his time, guidance and insights.

Why the Meeting Matters

Chadha did not disclose details of the discussion. A report by The Tribune said the political situation in Punjab was among the issues discussed.

The meeting comes as the BJP increases its political activity in Punjab. Chadha represents Punjab in the Rajya Sabha. He also has ancestral links to Jalandhar.

Chadha joined the BJP earlier this year along with six other AAP MPs. Six of the seven MPs were from Punjab.

Chadha’s Role in Punjab Politics

Chadha was associated with the Aam Aadmi Party from its early days. He played an important strategic role during the 2022 Punjab Assembly election.

The AAP won the election and formed the government in the state. Chadha did not contest the election but was involved in the party’s campaign strategy.

His decision to join the BJP was a significant political shift. He could now receive an important role in the BJP’s Punjab campaign.

Sukhbir Badal’s Meeting Adds to Speculation

The meeting also comes a day after Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal met PM Modi.

This has sparked speculation about possible changes in Punjab’s political equations. The SAD and BJP were once allies but later separated.

At the moment, the SAD has one MP and three MLAs. The BJP may seek to expand its support among urban and middle-class voters in Punjab.

With the state’s political landscape becoming more competitive, Chadha’s role could become important for the BJP.
