Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) issued 44,746 e-challans against traffic violators on the first day of its ‘Zero Death Week’ campaign.
The enforcement drive was conducted on September 1 to improve road safety and reduce accidents across the state.
Helmetless riding was the most common violation, accounting for 25,282 challans. Authorities also issued 4,160 challans for overspeeding and booked 1,383 motorists for triple riding.
Additionally, 1,216 vehicle owners were penalised for driving without valid insurance.
The STA has urged motorists to follow traffic rules and drive responsibly to ensure safer roads.
The ‘Zero Death Week’ campaign focuses on stricter enforcement and creating greater awareness about responsible driving and road safety practices among motorists across Odisha.
