Bhubaneswar: Dense fog continued to hamper flight operations at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Thursday, forcing the cancellation of three flights and delaying at least 15 others. The affected services were scheduled to operate on the Bhubaneswar–Delhi, Bhubaneswar–Ahmedabad and Bhubaneswar–Kolkata routes.

Airport officials said poor visibility led to delays of up to four hours, causing inconvenience to passengers. Airlines have been keeping travellers informed about the latest flight status amid the disruptions.

Flight schedules were also affected on Wednesday due to similar weather conditions. Officials warned that dense fog is likely to persist, potentially impacting operations throughout the day. Visibility reportedly dropped to as low as 50 metres around 6:30 am, making it unsafe for aircraft movement.

Aviation authorities stated that normal flight operations require a minimum visibility of approximately 550 metres. With fog continuing to envelop the city, further delays and cancellations cannot be ruled out.
