Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people on the occasion of the English New Year 2026.

As January 1 falls on a working day, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and all State government offices will function as usual. However, the CMO has appealed to citizens not to visit in person to convey New Year greetings.

In an official statement, the CMO said that no one should come personally to extend wishes to the Chief Minister or the officers of the Chief Minister’s Office.

The State government has also advised against celebrating the New Year within government offices. Events, meetings, and parties in offices have been prohibited, and all heads of offices and institutions have been directed to strictly comply with the instructions, the statement said.
