US President Donald Trump has claimed that Canada removed the United States from the opening ceremony of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. He made the statement on Truth Social on Friday.
Trump said he was not concerned about the decision. He added that Canada is already paying high tariffs on goods sent to the United States.
The US President also claimed that the bridge agreement had been changed. According to Trump, an earlier deal was unfair to America. He said the revised agreement now allows the United States to receive 50% of the bridge’s profits. However, he did not provide details about when the changes were made.
The comments came only days after the Trump administration announced a 50% tariff on most Canadian imports. Washington said the move was a response to what it described as unfair Canadian trade policies affecting American automobiles, dairy products, and alcoholic beverages.
