A registered ultrasound centre in Sora, Balasore district, was sealed on Monday for alleged violations of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act.

The State PC & PNDT Authority, the Balasore District Authority, the district administration, and the Revenue Department officials carried out a joint inspection. The action followed information about possible violations at the centre.

During the inspection, officials found several irregularities. The centre had allegedly failed to submit online Form F for a long period. The doctor’s name, qualification, and registration number were also not displayed inside the ultrasound room as required by law. Inspectors further found that mandatory records and documents were not properly maintained.

Officials seized relevant documents, equipment, and other materials for examination. Digital evidence collected during the inspection is also being verified.

Authorities said further legal action will be taken after completing the investigation. A formal notice will be issued to the ultrasound centre under the provisions of the PC & PNDT Act.

The Health and Family Welfare Department said it will continue strict enforcement of the law to prevent illegal sex determination and female foeticide across Odisha.
