The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as its first Chief Executive Officer, marking a major change in the administration of the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

The decision was taken at a Trust meeting on Wednesday. Mahesh Bhagchandka has also been appointed treasurer, while three new trustees have joined the organisation.

Mishra served in the Indian Air Force for more than 38 years and has held several key positions during his military career. He commanded the Western Air Command and has received prestigious military honours.

The selection process began in July 2026, with a three-member search committee receiving 5,585 applications from across the country. After shortlisting candidates, the committee recommended three names, following which the Trust selected Mishra.

As CEO, he will oversee administrative, financial and operational matters and help strengthen transparency and professional management.

The appointment comes as the Trust reviews its financial systems and administrative structure, including measures to reduce human involvement in counting cash donations.
