Vedanta Aluminium’s Project Panchhi has provided industry exposure and career opportunities to more than 180 young women from Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
The initiative, guided by Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal, aims to support women from economically disadvantaged communities and prepare them for careers in India’s manufacturing, mining and metals sectors.
Participants from engineering, management, commerce, science and other disciplines worked as interns across Vedanta Aluminium’s operations. They gained practical experience through projects covering more than 30 business functions.
The programme included exposure to advanced manufacturing, mining, sustainability, digital transformation, finance, logistics, environment and corporate functions. Students also worked with AI-enabled tools, analytics platforms and digital reporting systems.
Through live business assignments and mentorship from industry professionals, the participants were able to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges. Several projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency and sustainability.
Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajesh Kumar said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to creating opportunities for young women and promoting greater inclusion.
CHRO Praveen Purohit said Project Panchhi is designed to help participants build skills, confidence and career readiness while encouraging greater financial independence.
The programme aims to create a stronger pipeline of skilled women professionals for India’s evolving industrial sector.
