Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Fire and Emergency Services Department will launch a month-long special fire safety inspection drive across the state from September 15 to October 15.
The campaign, themed “Surakhsit Odisha, Vikashit Odisha,” comes after more than 800 notices were issued this year for violations of fire safety norms.
The special drive will focus on establishments and buildings required to obtain Fire Safety Certificates under the Odisha Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Rules. High-risk premises, including hospitals, educational institutions, hotels, shopping malls, multiplexes, factories, warehouses and high-rise residential buildings, are expected to face stricter inspections.
The department said the initiative aims to ensure compliance with mandatory fire safety regulations and prevent avoidable loss of life and property.
Owners, occupiers and management authorities have been urged to obtain the required Fire Safety Certificates and ensure that prescribed safety measures are properly implemented.
The department stressed that Odisha’s development must go hand in hand with public safety, reinforcing its vision of building a “Surakhsit Odisha” alongside a “Vikashit Odisha.”
