The Odisha Government has announced a series of measures to ensure the uninterrupted supply of fertilizers to farmers during the Kharif 2026 season. The state has also intensified efforts to prevent black marketing, hoarding, and illegal transportation of fertilizers.
Adequate Fertilizer Stocks Available
Following fertilizer allocations by the Government of India, the state has maintained sufficient stocks through Markfed, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), Large Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS), and authorised retailers. The government has assured farmers that adequate supplies are available and advised them not to panic.
Monthly Supply Plan Introduced
To ensure timely distribution, the state has prepared a coordinated monthly fertilizer supply plan in consultation with the Central Government, fertilizer manufacturers, Markfed, and other stakeholders.
Manufacturing companies and Markfed have been instructed to continue supplying fertilizers based on the stock position and requirements of grassroots cooperative societies across Odisha.
Strict Action Against Illegal Activities
District Collectors have been directed to closely monitor fertilizer distribution to ensure fair availability for farmers. The government has ordered strict action against black marketing, hoarding, artificial shortages, smuggling, and illegal cross-border transportation.
Special enforcement squads comprising officials from the Agriculture, Revenue, and Police departments have been formed at both district and block levels. These teams are conducting regular inspections and raids at wholesale and retail fertilizer outlets to prevent irregularities.
Focus on Farmers
The state government said its priority is to ensure that farmers receive quality fertilizers at government-approved prices without any disruption during the ongoing Kharif season. The measures are aimed at maintaining a transparent distribution system and supporting agricultural activities across Odisha.
