Odisha secured investment proposals worth ₹43,437 crore on the opening day of its first sector-focused Odisha Food Pro 2026 roadshow in New Delhi. The proposed investments are expected to create more than 43,000 employment opportunities, highlighting the state’s growing focus on the food processing industry.

Major Investment Commitments

Led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the event marked Odisha’s first dedicated investment outreach for the food processing sector.

The state government signed 27 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹41,748 crore, with the potential to generate around 35,252 jobs. It also received 12 Investment Intent Forms (IIFs) valued at ₹1,689 crore, expected to create another 8,064 employment opportunities.

Together, the proposals total ₹43,437 crore, with an estimated 43,316 jobs.

Focus on Food Processing Growth

Addressing investors, Chief Minister Majhi said food processing is central to improving farmers’ incomes, boosting rural development, and driving industrial growth. He said the state aims to process a larger share of its agricultural and marine produce within Odisha to create value, expand exports, and generate sustainable employment.

He highlighted Odisha’s strengths, including diverse agro-climatic zones, a 575-km coastline, strong fisheries, expanding ports, improved logistics, and an investor-friendly policy framework.

Roadmap for the Sector

The Chief Minister outlined five key priorities for the sector:

  • Development of specialised food processing clusters.
  • Expansion of cold-chain and warehousing infrastructure.
  • Strengthening food quality and certification systems.
  • Better integration of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), MSMEs, and women-led Self-Help Groups with industry.
  • Building a skilled workforce for global competitiveness.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said Odisha is creating an integrated ecosystem that supports farmers, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, and global investors.

The two-day roadshow is part of Odisha’s broader strategy to position itself as a leading food processing destination, while promoting higher farmer incomes, exports, and large-scale employment.
