A unique step towards environmental education has been introduced in Odisha with the launch of a special digital book focused on survival and sustainability for school students. The initiative comes after the successful conclusion of the state’s first Olympiad on Survival and Sustainability held in Bhubaneswar.

The competition took place at DAV Public School, Unit-8, bringing together 147 students from Odia- and English-medium schools across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The event encouraged young participants to explore important environmental issues and sustainable living practices.

To support continued learning, organizers released an interactive E-book called Info-Action Picture Book in both Odia and English. Unlike traditional study materials, the book combines knowledge with action-oriented activities. Along with explanations and answers, it offers practical ideas that encourage children to observe nature, think critically, and develop environmentally responsible habits.

Students who excelled in the Olympiad were honored with certificates and trophies during the fifth memorial programme dedicated to Padma Prof. Radhamohan. In addition, winners will receive an Experiential Learning Fellowship worth ₹10,000. The fellowship is designed to help students gain hands-on experience in environmental conservation and sustainability practices.

Renowned environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Sabarmatee highlighted the importance of empowering children to become active contributors to environmental protection. She stressed that future generations must be equipped with practical knowledge and responsible decision-making skills.

The E-book will be distributed to schools across Odisha, helping more students understand ecological challenges and sustainable solutions. Through this initiative, Sambhav hopes to inspire a new generation of environmentally aware young citizens ready to contribute to a greener future.
