Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured people that the state government is closely monitoring the flood situation caused by continuous rainfall in several districts. He said protecting the lives and safety of citizens remains the government’s highest priority.
In a message shared on X, the Chief Minister said he is reviewing the situation every minute and has held discussions with the Chief Secretary and the Special Relief Commissioner. He directed officials to ensure timely rescue, relief and rehabilitation in all affected areas.
The government has deployed three senior IAS officers to supervise flood management in Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts. The State Emergency Operations Centre and the Special Relief Commissioner’s office have been asked to function round the clock.
NDRF, ODRAF, Fire Services and Police teams have been kept on high alert to evacuate people from vulnerable areas. Flood shelters have been equipped with cooked food, safe drinking water, medical assistance, anti-venom injections and fodder for livestock.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to provide immediate compensation to families whose homes or agricultural land have been damaged. With rivers such as the Baitarani and Salandi flowing above the danger level, the administration has appealed to people to remain alert, follow official advisories and avoid panic.
