Bhadrak: A man from Chandbali in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has returned home safely after being stranded in Nepal during devastating flash floods.
Ramesh Das of Nalgunda village had travelled to Nepal on August 21 with a group of 51 people. Their journey took a frightening turn when severe flooding struck the region.
Das said he saw floodwaters rushing dangerously close to vehicles as people struggled to reach safety. The group later took shelter in a hotel while the disaster unfolded around them.
Recalling the journey back, Das said they witnessed widespread destruction, including dead bodies, damaged houses, and vehicles swept away by the floods. With mobile networks unavailable, he couldn’t contact his family and feared he might never see them again.
After reaching Bhadrak, Das became emotional while meeting his younger brother at the railway station. He said the experience was unforgettable and left him deeply shaken.
