Bhubaneswar: Continuous heavy rain has disrupted train services in parts of East Coast Railway’s Rayagada Division, with landslides, soil slips and waterlogging reported at several locations.
Landslides and soil slips have been reported at Rauli, Lilliguma, Chhatriput, Maliguda and the Keutguda-Sikarpai section. Waterlogging was also reported near Tunnel No. 2.
Around 300 workers have been deployed for restoration and safety operations. Teams are working round the clock under the supervision of railway officials to clear affected stretches and restore normal train movement.
Train services are being regulated with speed restrictions and other safety measures. Railway authorities said normal operations will resume in phases after the affected sections are inspected and certified safe.
Free bus services have been arranged from Koraput towards Jagdalpur and Jeypore for passengers affected by train cancellations and restrictions. Train No. 18005 was short-terminated at Koraput, with around 110 passengers provided bus transport.
Food, drinking water and packaged food items have also been arranged at Koraput, Damanjodi and Tikri.
