Billionaire Elon Musk has donated at least $276 million to Republican political groups and his America PAC since July, making him the largest known donor in the November 3 US midterm elections.

According to a Reuters report, Musk’s political spending during the 2026 election cycle has reached approximately $366 million as Republicans seek to retain control of Congress.

His contributions include $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, $76 million to America PAC and $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund. He also donated to groups supporting Republican candidates in Texas and other states.

The latest spending marks a renewed commitment to Republican campaigns, despite Musk previously indicating that he would reduce his political involvement. He spent nearly $290 million during the 2024 election cycle while supporting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Musk later joined Trump’s administration to lead the Department of Government Efficiency before leaving following disagreements over domestic policy. The two have since reconciled.

The donations come as Republicans face challenges over rising living costs and public concerns about the war with Iran. Democrats are seeking to win control of the House and Senate in the upcoming elections.

Musk’s financial support could strengthen Republican campaigns in closely contested races, although the final balance of power will depend on voters’ decisions on November 3.
