CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh has assured officers and jawans that the force will stand behind every bona fide decision taken while performing official duties. His remarks came as the CRPF reviews the conduct of personnel during the recent anti-NEET protest in Delhi.
Speaking at the CRPF investiture ceremony, Singh encouraged personnel to carry out their responsibilities without fear. He said he would take responsibility wherever accountability arises, provided the actions were taken honestly and in the line of duty.
The statement comes at a time when the Rapid Action Force (RAF) is facing scrutiny over allegations of excessive force during the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” march. Protesters had alleged the use of tear gas, lathi charges and pellet rounds, while several participants reported injuries.
The CRPF has launched an internal review to examine videos, media reports and statements from officers involved in the operation. Officials said a formal Court of Inquiry will be ordered if any violation of standard operating procedures is found.
The force has also clarified that while genuine actions taken in the national interest will receive institutional support, any reckless or unlawful conduct will face disciplinary action under CRPF rules.
The findings of the inquiry are expected to determine whether further action is required.
