Authorities on Thursday demolished parts of structures and barricades outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi after finding them beyond the approved boundary, official sources said.
Bulldozers removed fencing, roofing sheets, metal railings and queue-management structures near the mission’s visa section in Chanakyapuri. The main entrance of the High Commission remained intact.
The action came three days after Pakistan removed security barricades and parking poles outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, in what has been described as a tit-for-tat move.
India-Pakistan relations have remained tense since the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people. India launched Operation Sindoor in May, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The military confrontation ended with a ceasefire on May 10.
Since then, both countries have taken several diplomatic and administrative measures against each other. These include restrictions on diplomatic personnel, border arrangements and airspace.
The latest action outside the Pakistan High Commission adds to the series of reciprocal measures that have marked the strained relationship between the two neighbouring countries.
