Bhubaneswar: More than 1.03 crore women across Odisha received the fifth instalment of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana on Rakhi Purnima, with the state government transferring over Rs 5,163 crore directly into their bank accounts.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed the assistance during a programme at Lathipada in Nayagarh district. A total of 1,03,26,162 eligible beneficiaries received the instalment, including 2,33,585 women from Nayagarh, who received Rs 116.80 crore.
Majhi said the decision to release the assistance on Rakhi Purnima reflected the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. He stressed that Subhadra was aimed not only at providing financial support but also at helping women achieve greater social and economic independence.
The Chief Minister cited survey findings indicating that many beneficiaries were using the assistance for financial security, business and other developmental activities. He also highlighted the state’s 27 lakh Lakhpati Didis and the newly created Women Entrepreneurship Platform.
During the event, Majhi released the Subhadra Annual Report 2025-26, SBI Survey Report and Subhadra Review. He also interacted with successful beneficiaries from different districts.
