Talcher: At least five workers sustained severe burn injuries after an explosion at NTPC’s Kaniha plant in Odisha’s Angul district in the early hours of Saturday.

According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred at coal bunker B of the plant in the Pallahada area while work was underway.

All five injured workers were rushed to a hospital in Talcher for treatment. Two workers were later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after their condition became critical.

Senior officials visited the plant following the incident to assess the situation and determine the circumstances that led to the explosion.

Further details regarding the cause of the blast and the condition of the injured workers are awaited.
